Deutsch Doctrine

I routinely note leftists assume – correctly, it seems – they cannot recruit or retain followers by sticking to the truth.  They feel a need to deceive by tactics as simple as exaggerating all the way up to outright lying.

What I hadn’t seen was a leftist admit they considered lying to be “an appropriate tactic” to advance their agenda.

Fortunately, a Penn State – Beaver physics instructor struck a blow for honesty, sort of.

On August 23, 2005, Peter W. Deutsch (Secretary of Beaver County Reds) wrote the following comment on the website of the now-apparently-defunct Beaver County Coalition for Social Justice regarding the voting machine issue:

“Perhaps provoking them [election officials] with stretched truths is an apporpriate [sic] tactic.  But let’s see it for what it is … a tactic.”

Here we have a local leftist leader admitting in print he believes it’s OK to lie to affect government policy.

To thank Mr. Deutsch for his forthrightness – and for providing valuable evidence, I refer to his comment as the Deutsch Doctrine.

For background, Mr. Deutsch allegedly possesses degrees in physics from the universities of Illinois (M.S. & Ph.D.) and Michigan (B.S.).  As of this writing, the Penn State – Beaver website lists Mr. Deutsch as Associate Professor of Physics teaching astronomy and physics.
