You can learn more about BCR’s leftster management here.

From 2004 to 2008, the BCT published at least 17 letters from Mr. Shannon.  I found none since 2008.  You can find my critiques of those letters here, here, here, here, and here.  In addition to what you learned about Mr. Shannon’s positions here and in his letters to the editor, consider the following exchange on a fellow BCR member’s Facebook wall (9/27/11).

Lefty #1: “Capitalism has to go.  Merely taxing/regulating always fails in the end.”

Mr. Shannon: “Divide and conquer.  Take down the crazy bankers first.”

Rather than a full-blown critique, below are my comments about selected excerpts.  For those portions I did not address, I recommend you do some fact-checking if you plan to use the info.  For that matter, don’t accept what I write either.  It’s important for all of us to do our own research to learn whom we can and can’t trust.

I wasn’t going to write anything about this piece until I read the following: “the law establishes a gag rule on doctors who treat patients sickened by exposure to industry chemicals.  The purpose of the gag rule is to prevent the dissemination and collection of gas industry health effects on the population, which could be used to protect the public health.”  Given my experience with Mr. Shannon’s “facts,” I was suspicious.  I searched HB 1950 and found nothing to support Mr. Shannon’s assertion.  The only “gag rule” is a “health professional” must treat as confidential any trade secrets or other proprietary information provided to the health professional by the “vendor, service provider, or operator.”  I saw nothing in HB 1950 “to prevent the dissemination and collection of gas industry health effects on the population” by health professionals.

Mr. Shannon wrote, “The premise of the law is that the right of corporations to fully exploit all of the gas deposit in the Marcellus shale takes precedent over the lives, property, communities, and other business interests in Pennsylvania.”  What about “the right of” partnerships, proprietorships, et cetera?  You’ll find HB 1950 covers all gas industry businesses, not just those organized as corporations.

My experience is pieces like this tend to be red herrings and are really about the religion of manmade global warming.  Knowing the manmade global warming myth is increasingly falling on deaf ears, followers of this faith now try to use safety, water quality, etc. as backdoors to stop drilling and production of Marcellus natural gas.  In addition to pieces on the BCR family of websites, Mr. Shannon’s fellow members of Beaver County Reds have written at least seven letters-to-the-editor (here, here, here, herehere, here, and here) on this topic.

In Peace, Friendship, Community, Cooperation, and Solidarity.
