Why Unions Matter; Carl Davidson (KD); Facebook; June 3, 2018.
You can learn more about BCR’s leftster management here. “Leftster” is the combination of leftist and gangster, inspired by the left-originated “bankster.”
“WHY UNIONS MATTER. Otherwise, you, the taxpayer, get to subsidize Walmart’s profits. A raise might mean Walmart goes broke? Hardly. Walmart has some 2.3 million employees making a median annual wage of about $19,100. Above that, what’s the annual profit each worker produces for Walmart? $4300. Seems there’s a lot of wiggle room in there, no?”
The source for KD’s post was a four-years-old Forbes article entitled “Report: Walmart Workers Cost Taxpayers $6.2 Billion In Public Assistance.” The info source for the Forbes piece was “Walmart on Tax Day: How Taxpayers Subsidize America’s Biggest Employer and Richest Family,” prepared by “Americans for Tax Fairness, a coalition of 400 national and state-level progressive groups, … using data from a 2013 study by Democratic Staff of the U.S. Committee on Education and the Workforce.”
Shouldn’t the article’s title be “Walmart Workers Save Taxpayers $xx Billion In Public Assistance?” After all, if Walmart didn’t employ these folks, they would be earning less and placing a greater burden on those of us paying for “Public Assistance.”
Here’s a paper I wrote entitled “The Minimum Wage.”
