Salutes & Boots; Editorial; Beaver County Times; June 20, 2005.

Below is a detailed critique of the subject editorial.

“Boot: To the sunshine patriots who want the United States to pull out of Iraq now that the going has gotten rough.  The Associated Press reports the latest Gallup poll found that six in 10 Americans say they think the United States should withdraw some or all of its troops from Iraq.  This is a far cry from the wave of jingoism that swept the nation as U.S. forces rolled through Iraq.  Folks, no one but the United States is responsible for the situation in Iraq today.  We broke it, and we’ve got to stay until it’s fixed.”

[RWC] I may never cease to be amazed at the Times continuing comment, “We broke it [Iraq].”  Yeah, Iraq was a peaceful, non-threatening Arab paradise.  How stupid does the editorial author believe we are?
