Salutes & Boots; Editorial; Beaver County Times; April 10, 2006.

Below is a detailed critique of the subject editorial.

“Salute: To a proposal in the state House of Representatives that would increase the amount of state money for a tax-credit program benefiting businesses that donate money to scholarship organizations from $44 million to $64 million.  Under the Educational Improvement Tax Credit, sponsored by Rep. Mario Civera, R-Delaware, businesses can cut their state taxes by up to 90 cents for every dollar they donate to state-approved private school scholarship organizations or nonprofit groups that support public schools.”

[RWC] Yet another example of how generous the Times is with our paychecks.  The editorial fails to make clear that the tax dollars used to fund the tax credit would come from one of two places, spending reductions or increased taxes somewhere.  Care to guess which it would be?
