Below is a detailed critique of the subject editorial.

“Boot: To the measure in the Legislature that would make English the official language.  What makes this proposal unnecessary is that one reason Pennsylvania’s population is not growing as fast as many other states is its ability to attract immigrants, especially Asians and Hispanics.  Instead of wasting its time on legislation like this, lawmakers should be trying to find ways to grow the state’s economy so that more people - domestic and foreign - would want to move here.”

[RWC] What a joke!  I have absolutely no doubt the Times would oppose just about every effort that would actually improve PA’s economic climate.  Lest we forget, editorials constantly tell us we need to increase spending on this or that, how the minimum wage must be increased, and how more business regulations are necessary.  At the same time, editorials repeatedly tell us PA taxes aren’t a problem.  When did increasing regulations and taxes ever “grow the state’s economy?”  You see, the Times believes in socialist “solutions” to problems, and socialist programs always result in the opposite of their stated intentions.
