Politics as usual; Editorial; Beaver County Times; July 27, 2006.

Below is a detailed critique of the subject editorial.

“A recent Washington Post poll gives some insight into why U.S. Sen. Rick Santorum has made immigration an issue in his race against state Treasurer Bob Casey Jr.

“Columnist David Broder reports the poll found that while the war in Iraq and the economy outranked immigration as an issue, those voters who called immigration their top priority leaned heavily - 63 percent - to the GOP.”

[RWC] I searched the Washington Post website for this alleged column and did not find it.  It’s possible it was in the print edition but not published on the website.

“As usual with Santorum, it’s politics.”

[RWC] Hmm, a politician in an election campaign employs political strategy.  Who would have guessed?  Thank goodness Mr. Casey isn’t employing politics in his campaign. <g>

Another surprise.  A Republican runs on an issue that’s important to Republicans.  How dastardly!  I’m sure Mr. Casey won’t run on issues important to Democrats. <g>

Of course, the Times would never publish a politically motivated editorial. <g>

Who is the Einstein that writes editorials like this?
