Supporting the troops?; Editorial; Beaver County Times; March 9, 2007.

Rather than do a point-by-point critique of the editorial, I’ll mention only a couple of points to illustrate Times hypocrisy.

First, the editorial notes, “Kosovo might not be a hot war like Iraq and Afghanistan, but it involves dangerous duty.” Why, then, haven’t we read any “declare victory and get out” editorials about Kosovo? (Note: My records go back only to January 2005.) After all, Kosovo never posed a threat to the U.S. and isn’t what’s going on there a civil war? As a reminder, then-President Clinton sent U.S. troops to Kosovo in early/mid 1999.

Second, the editorial concludes with, “Support troops? Support their families? Words, mere words.” For an example of how the Times “supports the troops,” please read my critique of the editorial “Americans and Congress.”
