BCT Editorial – 2/24/08

Power play; Editorial; Beaver County Times; February 24, 2008.

The editorial leads off with, “You’d think that Fidel Castro’s stepping down from power in Cuba would be the perfect opportunity to end the U.S. trade embargo that has been in place since the 1960 [sic].”

Nowhere in the editorial, however, do we read a reason why the embargo should end.  Other than Fidel Castro turning power over to his younger brother, at least on the surface, what has changed for the Cuban people that would justify a policy change?
