BCT Editorial – 3/5/08

Back burner; Editorial; Beaver County Times; March 5, 2008.

This editorial subtitle is “Afghanistan’s deterioration is the direct result of the Bush administration’s blunders.”

Gee, what a surprise!  We have the second Bush-bashing exercise in two days.  The subtitle of “Deeply flawed” was “The United States will pay a terrible price for Bush’s misguided policies in Iraq.”  I wonder how many of these editorials are “on deck” at the Times at any one time.

This editorial furthers the same BS we’ve read since at least October 2004.  First, though it doesn’t say so explicitly, the way it’s written we’re to believe everybody supported our action in Afghanistan.  Second, we’re to believe our action in Iraq shortchanged our effort in Afghanistan.

I’ll end on a nitpicking note.  As part of an apparent trend of more frequent typographical errors I commented about previously, this editorial misspelled Afghan President Hamid Karzai’s name as “Karai.”
