BCT Editorial – 4/7/08

Modern times; Editorial; Beaver County Times; April 7, 2008.

The editorial subtitle is “Pennsylvania lawmakers must to [sic] revamp the way beer, wine and liquor are sold in the state.”

I’d wholeheartedly agree with the editorial, except it doesn’t provide any details.  My idea of revamping is to get the commonwealth completely out of the alcohol sales business.  When I lived in Texas, convenience stores and supermarkets sold beer and wine and the world didn’t end.  Likewise, the state had no role in selling hard liquor.

Who would be opposed to this change?  Beer distributors, labor unions manning “state stores,” and LCB bureaucrats.
