Chaos; Editorial; Beaver County Times; April 21, 2008.

This is a typical Times editorial on this topic, so I’ll focus on the following two sentences: “Much of the debate regarding the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq has focused on pre-war matters, especially whether the Bush White House deceived Americans by claiming that Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein had weapons or [sic] mass destruction.  That debate is pointless because each side can marshal evidence to support its claim or at least raise uncertainty about the other side’s argument.”

Translation: “We want to call President Bush a lying warmonger, but all the evidence is to the contrary.  Therefore, we’ll just make the drive-by allegation then declare a draw and hope people see us as reasonable.”
