BCT Editorial – 4/22/08

Silly; Editorial; Beaver County Times; April 22, 2008.

This is just another in a semi-regular series of editorials claiming you can’t trust what’s on the Internet.  The implication is you can trust the mainstream media like the Times.  The truth is, you can’t trust anything regardless of the source until you check it out.

Some previous editorials on this topic were “Unreal,” “Rumor central,” “Face time,” “Anything goes,” and “Debasing the web.”  Editorials occasionally dump on cable news channels as well.

Since this editorial adds no new arguments, please refer to my critiques of the above editorials for most of my general comments on the topic.

The editorial makes it sound like the McCain citizenship BS is something new and specific to the Internet.  I don’t know about the editorial author, but the first I heard this BS was at least two months ago on a mainstream media outlet.  Does news arrive at the Times office via pack mule (and ship) from Timbuktu?
