I mostly agree with the editorial (I don’t buy the action will affect gasoline prices.), but a couple of things are conspicuous by their absence.

First, while the editorial mentioned Mrs. Clinton and Mr. McCain, it failed to note Mr. Obama also supported the pandering and voted for the bill. This is just one more hint in which direction the Times is leaning in the Democrat nomination process.

Second, notice the editorial referred to Congress, not the “Democrat-controlled Congress.”

Finally, had President Bush kept filling the SPR, I suspect it would not have been long before we’d have read an editorial complaining about paying $100+ per barrel (over $7 million per day) to keep filling an SPR that already exceeds 96% of capacity.
