BCT Editorial – 5/21/08

This page was last updated on May 21, 2008.

Welfare queens; Editorial; Beaver County Times; May 21, 2008.

The editorial subtitle is “Turnpike lease represents another free ride for rural parts of Pennsylvania.”

We certainly can’t accuse the Times of not recycling, at least when it comes to editorial titles.  A couple of previous editorials on this topic were entitled “Welfare leeches” and “Welfare queens.”  You have to love the name-calling, though I suspect the Times wouldn’t consider using that language to describe actual welfare system abusers.  Remember, the Times chides readers “Do not post: Personal attacks, insults or threats.” when it comes to posting comments on the Times website.  I could be wrong, though.  Perhaps “leeches,” “welfare queens,” and “ingrates” are really terms of endearment.

There’s nothing new in this editorial, so please read my critiques of the previous editorials for my comments.
