The editorial’s apparent goal is to tell us a politician changing his position is not necessarily “flip-flopping.” I agree, but did you catch what was missing?

No mention was made of the reasons why a politician changes his position. Not all position changes are equal. If a person changes his position because of changing facts or the realization his original position was wrong, that’s OK and is what we should expect. When a person changes his position solely for personal and/or political gain, that’s flip-flopping.
