Gee, another leftist opinion piece likening the U.S. economy to the Great Depression.  What a surprise.  The fact that so many of us don’t know our history allows lefties to use this claim on a continuing basis.

Let’s look at two specific comments.

We read, “Like all pyramids, the unrealistic housing bubble was bound to burst.”  I’m not sure this current mess is really a pyramid scheme, but have you ever seen the Times refer to true pyramid/Ponzi schemes like Medicare and Socialist Security in this manner?

The editorial tells us, “However, the problem goes beyond government and financial institutions.  Americans, too, have been living far beyond their means, using credit to fuel a lifestyle they can’t afford.”  Remember, this comes from a newspaper that supports just about every government spending program that comes down the pike.
