Root beer pockets; Editorial; Beaver County Times; September 19, 2008.

The editorial subtitle is “Next president will have to pay the bills, not fulfill promises.”

This is the second editorial since late March with the title “Root-beer pockets.” The first “root beer” editorial pushed for spending on a “light-rail system linking Pittsburgh International Airport, Downtown Pittsburgh and the Oakland section of the city.”

The editorial asserts “the United States has champagne tastes and root beer pockets.” I believe at least the “champagne tastes” portion is a bit of projection on the part of the Times. If you recall, Times editorials support just about every spending increase or new government program that comes down the pike. The previous “root beer” editorial was just one example.
