BCT Editorial – 9/25/08

Quiet, please; Editorial; Beaver County Times; September 25, 2008.

This editorial complains that Sen. John McCain and Gov. Sarah Palin haven’t been doing press conferences and that Gov. Palin “hasn’t appeared on a single Sunday morning news program.”

The editorial failed to note Sen. McCain and Gov. Palin do frequent town hall meetings during which the candidates field questions from – perish the thought - voters.  Oh no!  Don’t they know we need the mainstream media to filter the questions and answers?

Though the editorial told us “Democratic candidates Barack Obama and Joe Biden have held news conferences since their nominations,” it failed to note Messrs. Obama and Biden declined to participate in town hall meetings with Sen. McCain and Gov. Palin.  I guess it’s OK to duck the voters, but not the mainstream media.

This editorial isn’t about the mythical silence of the candidates.  It’s a hissy fit over the fact that Sen. McCain and Gov. Palin apparently prefer to speak directly to the voters instead of through the mainstream media filter.
