BCT Editorial – 10/24/08

This page was last updated on October 25, 2008.

Middle ground; Editorial; Beaver County Times; October 24, 2008.

The editorial subtitle is “Altmire is best suited to represent district and nation.”

Since this editorial differs little from Charles Netzel’s letter (“Hart’s smear job just doesn’t stick”) of October 9th, I’ll limit my comments below mostly to what little is different.

The editorial claims, “Global warming is real and must be addressed.”  Please read my paper entitled “Manmade Global Warming.”

The editorial asserts, “Melissa Hart … remains the ideologue she always was.”  If you’ve been paying attention to past Times editorials, you recall the Times refers to leftist ideologues as “centrists” and their positions as “middle ground.”  Based on their voting records, Mr. Altmire is as much a liberal as Ms. Hart is a conservative.

The editorial says, “Altmire is a Bob Casey Democrat who is more in sync with the district than Hart.”  Meant to imply Mr. Casey also isn’t a liberal, this sentence is outright deception.  You see, while Mr. Altmire has a 95% Liberal Quotient from Americans for Democratic Action, Mr. Casey has a 100% LQ.  Would district voters compile 95% and 100% LQs as did Messrs. Altmire and Casey?
