Out of luck; Editorial; Beaver County Times; December 26, 2008.

The editorial leads off with “Any economic stimulus plan aimed at countering the recession should include extending unemployment benefits.  But it must not stop there.  It also should expand benefits to cover more workers.”

If one of our goals were to get people into jobs, why would we implement policies that would be a disincentive – however large or small – for people to take a job?  In addition to not expanding unemployment benefits, we should reduce or eliminate the minimum wage to encourage businesses to hire employees they could not otherwise afford to hire.
