First, I in no way support the beliefs, comments, etc. of Richard Williamson regarding the Holocaust.

The editorial says, “The Holocaust isn’t the only historical tragedy Williamson has trouble understanding. He has said the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attack on the World Trade Center was orchestrated by the U.S. government as a pretext to invade Afghanistan.” Consider the following comment by then-presidential candidate Howard Dean (D-VT) : “There are many theories about it [the 9/11/attack]. The most interesting theory that I’ve heard so far, which is nothing more than a theory, I can’t—think it can’t be proved, is that he [President Bush] was warned ahead of time by the Saudis.” My records don’t go back to 2003, but did the Times take offense?
