Duty bound; Editorial; Beaver County Times; February 15, 2009.

To start, I agree seniors 70 years old and over shouldn’t get special treatment regarding jury duty.  The purpose of this critique is to demonstrate yet more Times hypocrisy.

First, though, what is it with Times editorial writers that they appear to feel duty bound to get into name-calling (“brown-nosing”) when they don’t agree with someone?  Is this taught in journalism school, is it something picked up over time, or is it part of Times culture?

Isn’t it a tad hypocritical to bash group politics when that’s the basis for many Times positions?  For example, Times editorials routinely support subsidizing government-run bus systems for all riders, not just those who can’t afford the fare.
