BCT Editorial – 3/12/09

Earmarks; Editorial; Beaver County Times; March 12, 2009.

While I agree with everything written in the editorial, I can’t take it seriously for at least three reasons.

First, the Times won’t call out any individuals it supports politically.

Second, during the 2008 election campaign, the Times steadfastly stayed away from comparing the pork-barrel spending records of McCain/Palin and Obama/Biden.

Third, there’s no mention of candidate Obama’s pledge to wipe out earmarks.  President Obama just got done signing two huge spending bills ($1.2+ trillion excluding interest) loaded with thousands of earmark/pork projects.

Finally, how serious can the Times be about earmark/pork barrel spending when it supports just about every spending proposal that comes down the pike?
