Trust, but verify; Editorial; Beaver County Times; April 24, 2009.

The editorial subtitle is “Obama following Bush’s lead in claiming sweeping state-secrets power.”

Predictably the editorial starts off talking about “torture,” but I encourage you to read the subject memos yourself and draw your own conclusions. There’s a reason the Times provides no supporting evidence for this and the other accusations made in the editorial.

I have two points about the comment, “As President Ronald Reagan said in another context, ‘Trust, but verify.’”

First, lefties like the Times editorial board despised/despise Mr. Reagan. It’s a hoot when they quote him in a positive context.

Second, when did the Times ever “trust” President Bush? Every editorial for at least the last five years assumed Mr. Bush was guilty of just about every vile accusation and never let facts get in the way.
