Dire straits; Editorial; Beaver County Times; May 15, 2009.

The editorial subtitle is “Entitlement programs’ financial woes will require sacrifices.”

“We’ve been borrowing too much to fund government operations, and it’s time to bring some semblance of fiscal responsibility to federal spending, which means no part of the budget should be off limits. We all must make sacrifices.”

Times editorials like this are enough to make some folks want to wrap their heads in duct tape to keep them from exploding. We routinely read editorials cry crocodile tears about spending and debt, yet Times editorials tend to support nearly every government-spending proposal that comes down the pike.

If it seems like I’ve been using this refrain frequently recently, you are correct. This will continue as long as the Times keeps writing hypocritical editorials on this subject.
