BCT Editorial – 10/20/09

Payback time; Editorial; Beaver County Times; October 20, 2009.

FYI, this is the first editorial posted on the Times website since October 7th.  Based on what I saw in the print edition (mostly editorials reproduced from other outlets), I guess the editorial authors were on vacation or otherwise occupied for two weeks.  Perhaps they were at an Obama administration editorial writing camp. <g>

I think it’s fair to say the Times won’t be targeted for action by the Obama administration, as is Fox News.  You’ll note the editorial mentions the debt and deficits, but then attempts to excuse them.  If that’s not bad enough, the editorial even claims we “owe the Obama administration and Democratically-controlled Congress” gratitude for spending money we don’t have.  Another example of being the Obama administration’s lapdog is the recent “news” article “Crowd gets vocal at town hall meeting on health care.”

As a reminder, during the Bush administration Times editorials constantly and correctly complained about federal deficit spending, the country’s growing debt, and the burden that debt puts on us and future generations.  As you can read in “Move it along,” the tone changed less than a month after President Obama’s election.

In my mind’s eye I can see Mr. Obama patting the Times editorial board on their heads and saying, “Good boys/girls.”
