Drama queens; Editorial; Beaver County Times; November 29, 2009.

As you read this editorial, keep in mind the Times claims it doesn’t want a government-run healthcare monopoly.  What do you call it when someone changes their position depending on the audience?  Also keep in mind the editorial defends legislators not reading the legislation for which they vote.

The editorial asserts “the Senate bill, as published in the Congressional Record, is 209 pages.”  Sorry, but when you go to thomas.loc.gov, you’re directed to the Government Printing Office, and the bill there has 2,074 pages.  It’s in the format all bills are printed.  Since the editorial did comparisons, here’s probably the best.  My copy of the U.S. Constitution (including all amendments) is only 22 pages (page size 5⅛” x 6¼”).

As for “Keep that in mind as congressional Republicans and their fellow travelers on talk radio and the 24-7 infotainment cable networks conjure up all kinds of nightmare scenarios about health care reform,” wasn’t it President Obama who claimed doctors were unnecessarily removing tonsils for the money and were raking in all kinds of big buck for amputations?

Please read my paper entitled “Healthcare.”
