Short-term fix; Editorial; Beaver County Times; December 13, 2009.

The editorial asserted “the Troubled Asset Relief Program, or TARP, worked, at least in the short term” and “TARP provided what the economy needed to prevent an all-out economic collapse.”

How does the Times know? Unless by some means you know the alternative approaches would have produced worse outcomes, you can’t claim TARP “worked.” Let’s also remember TARP became a misnomer since the funding was not used to address so-called “troubled assets.” Instead, the funds were used to bail out some financial institutions.
