The editorial asserts, “The evidence in favor of a moratorium on the death penalty has become overwhelming.” Have you noticed “the evidence in favor of [fill in the blank]” always “has become overwhelming” for positions the Times supports? When the evidence is overwhelming, of course, there’s no need for a thorough debate, and isn’t a goal of Times editorials to suppress debate and thus the voices of opposition?
