Garbage in; Editorial; Beaver County Times; February 10, 2010.

This has been a recurring topic of Times editorials since at least 2005 (“Starting point,” 2/2/05).

The editorial says, “Sure, that would cost state residents a little more. However, almost half of the garbage dumped in Pennsylvania comes from out of state. It would be like a matching grant.” If the Times were the fiscal conservatives they try to convince us they are, this section of the editorial could have read, “Sure, that would cost state residents a little more. We could, however, offset that by instituting matching broad-based tax cuts in other areas.”
