The editorial fails to note what the government was asking for are business records and the property of the business, not the customer. While I see no problem with a business voluntarily providing the data when asked, I agree the government should not be able to demand the data without a warrant.
What’s missing is any condemnation of the Obama administration in this. Can you imagine the vitriol we would have read if a Republican were President and his Justice Department was making the same case?
