BCT Editorial – 3/21/10

Civil affairs; Editorial; Beaver County Times; March 21, 2010.

To start off with, I don’t know if the editorial covers homosexual women or not.  Why?  Times editorials routinely refer to “gays and lesbians.”  This editorial refers only to so-called “gay marriage.”  Are lesbian couples not included?  I covered the language gymnastics of the Times in my critique of “Do tell.”

Note the language manipulation.  The editorial refers to so-called “gay marriage” when it really means same-sex “marriage.”  Remember, homosexuals may get married as long they marry someone of the other sex, just like heterosexuals.

The editorial asserts, “More Americans are coming to accept the idea that gay couples in committed relationships should have the same rights and privileges as heterosexual couples - health-care benefits, death benefits, pensions, joint ownership of property, a say in medical treatment, etc.”  Note the editorial didn’t cite a source supporting the assertion.
