This is another example of Times editorials promoting opposite positions. We routinely read editorials about local control (Three examples are “Local control #1,” “Go slowly,” and “Local control #2.”), yet we also read editorials like this complaining the state hasn’t shoved consolidation down the throats of school districts. We read a similar editorial about municipalities just last month. If you’re familiar with the Times editorial body of work, you know which position is real and which is not.
