BCT Editorial – 6/29/10

Bridge work; Editorial; Beaver County Times; June 29, 2010.

The editorial asserts “Pennsylvania has thousands of bridges in the same shape as the one in West Newton.”  Does this mean “Pennsylvania has thousands of [closed] bridges” or “Pennsylvania has thousands of bridges” that should be closed?  In either case, how can that be?  Less than two weeks ago the Times told us “lawmakers love to lavish money on roads and bridges.”

How did the Times get from “Ugly sight” to this editorial in less than two weeks?  The answer is simple; inconsistency results when your positions are based on political calculations and/or unsound underlying economic, political, and social principles.  This is just one reason many people consider the Times to be a joke.
