BCT Editorial – 7/20/10

‘No mas’; Editorial; Beaver County Times; July 20, 2010.  At the time I wrote this critique, the editorial appeared only in the print edition of the Times.

The editorial leads off with “Americans deserve a summer break from political ads.”  Though the editorial later says it “applies to all political ads,” the only examples it provided were those allegedly run by Times political opponents.  You’ll notice the editorial didn’t say the Times would do its part and forgo paid political ads for the remainder of the summer.

What I thought was funny was that the Times apparently thinks its readers don’t recognize its editorials and columns for what they are, political ads.  Ignoring this editorial political ad defending Rep. Joe Sestak (D-PA7 and candidate for the Senate) and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) against political ads, how long do you think the Times will practice what it preaches about “a summer break from political ads?”
