Pity party; Editorial; Beaver County Times; August 20, 2010.

The Times has a checkered history when it comes to the free speech clause of the First Amendment.  See “For what it’s worth” (1/26/10) and “Scared stiff” (1/29/10) for examples.  In this case, though, the editorial was exactly correct.  Funny how the Times has never mentioned this all the times lefties claim someone other than the government abridged their speech, isn’t it?

What the editorial didn’t present adequately was the context of Ms. Schlessinger’s use of the word “nigger.”  In summary, Ms. Schlessinger’s point was it was OK for blacks to use the word but not for whites.  Ms. Schlessinger clearly made her point, but not how she expected.  Here’s the transcript of the exchange between Ms. Schlessinger and her caller according to lefty MediaMatters.org.
