BCT Editorial – 9/24/10

Comic relief; Editorial; Beaver County Times; September 24, 2010.

I can’t get over how often the Times uses a comedy show as a reference.  This is at least the 10th time since October 2004 editorials afforded credibility to “The Daily Show,” or its spin-off “The Colbert Report.”

Other than noting one lefty outlet’s support of fellow media lefties, the reason for this critique is to note what the editorial omitted.  Both rallies are intended to be counter rallies to Glenn Beck’s 8/28 “Restoring Honor” event at the Lincoln Memorial, a fundraiser for the Special Operations Warrior Foundation that attracted several hundred thousand attendees.  (NBC reported an unofficial National Parks Service estimate of 300,000 to 325,000.)  A quick search found Times editorials have not mentioned the Beck event even in passing.

Finally, in an ongoing problem with names, the editorial misspelled the name of Jon (not John) Stewart.  The editorial didn’t even attempt the first name of Stephen Colbert.
