This is another example of Times editorials promoting opposite positions. We routinely read editorials supposedly supporting local control (Three examples regarding school districts are “Local control #1,” “Go slowly,” and “Local control #2.”), yet we also read editorials like this complaining the state hasn’t shoved consolidation down the throats of municipalities. If you’re familiar with the Times editorial body of work, you know which position is real and which is not.
