The editorial claims it “is not to downplay what happened last week” but that was exactly its purpose. Gee, what surprise!
As for the 42% national voter turnout, I agree it’s not good. That said, the editorial conveniently failed to mention it was the largest turnout for a midterm election since 1970 (46.6%) and the first midterm turnout to exceed 40% since 1970.
