The editorial asserts “reform of that chamber [the Senate] is so important.” I’ll go out on a limb and guess the Times is laying a foundation for supporting abolishment of the filibuster. As a reminder, when Republicans toyed with eliminating the filibuster, the Times opposed the move. It will be interesting to see how the Times reacts should Senate Democrats succeed with their plans to “reform” the filibuster.
