“CLASS WARFARE” is a hoot.  First, the Times still clings to the “Bush-era tax cuts for the wealthy” mantra.  How sad.  See some critiques of Times editorials on this topic here, here, and here.  Second, the Times compares “congressional Democrats [and] the Obama White House” with “right-wing bloggers, pundits, talk show hosts and Fox News personalities.”  Even if what the Times wrote were true, “congressional Democrats [and] the Obama White House” had the power to increase/decrease tax rates, not “right-wing bloggers …” or Times personalities.

While “GOING AFTER RADICALS” was upset the “U.S. House Homeland Security Committee had a hearing last week to look into the radicalization of young American Muslims by al-Qaida-linked groups,” the Times didn’t seem to have a problem when lefties held similar hearings.  According to a source (World Socialist Web Site) the Times would likely find ideologically compatible, “Democratic-controlled congressional committees have engaged in similar efforts to incite anti-Muslim sentiment, most notably by the Senate Homeland Security Committee, chaired by Independent Democrat Joseph Lieberman, which held 14 hearings on the subject, and the House Intelligence Committee, then chaired by Congresswoman Jane Harman, which held 6 hearings.”  A search of Times editorials since 2005 found no mention of the Harman and Lieberman hearings.

This section concludes with “And if King is truly concerned about religious radicals in the United States, shouldn’t he look into Christian cults such as Westboro Baptist Church as well?  Just asking.”  Seriously?  This is pretty lame even for the Times.  I am disgusted with the antics of the Westboro people and I hope there is a special place in Hell for people who do what the Westboro people do.  That said, to the best of my knowledge the Westboro people haven’t flown planes into buildings killing thousands, murdered 13 and wounded 30+ at Fort Hood, and on and on.

“PUT UP OR SHUT UP” says “Some people are calling for the Obama administration to commit U.S. military forces to aid those rebelling against Libyan dictator Moammar Gadhafi,” but fails to note “some people” includes people who excoriated then-President George W. Bush for the Afghanistan and Iraq wars.  Heck, even Secretary of State Hillary Clinton raised the specter of Libyan chemical weapons.  I’m sure these were honest oversights by the Times. <g>  As for the “sunshine patriots” comment, at least 11 editorials since 2004 have talked about “summer soldiers” or “sunshine patriots.”  I believe the most recent previous example was – wait for it – “Put up or shut up” from early last year.
