Buckling up; Editorial; Beaver County Times; May 15, 2011.
To start, I state for the record I always have and always will wear my seatbelt and I think anyone who doesn’t is nuts.
In promoting another aspect of the nanny state, the editorial says, “The way out of this dilemma is to make not wearing a seat belt a primary offense in Pennsylvania. Stop treating grown-ups who refuse to look after their own safety like the adults they are in age and treat them like the juveniles they are in mentality.” I have no problem with seatbelt laws for juveniles, but I oppose seatbelt laws for adults, whether as a primary or secondary offense. You can find other examples of Times editorials supporting nanny statism here.
