Even though this scandal is now in its third week, I’m sure it’s just a coincidence the BCT’s first op-ed mentions (this editorial and a J.D. Prose column mentioning the same topic) of Weinergate weren’t posted until well after House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and the Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL) issued statements saying Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-NY) needed to go. <g>
In fairness, the Times didn’t publish any op-ed pieces about former Rep. Chris Lee (R-NY) who sent a topless picture of himself to a woman who was not his wife. That’s probably because Republican leadership “encouraged” Mr. Lee to resign before most of us heard of the incident. In the case of Mr. Weiner, Democrat leadership twiddled their thumbs for two weeks until a report came out Mr. Weiner allegedly exchanged private messages with a 17-year-old girl in Delaware. You’ll note neither the editorial nor the Prose column mentioned Mr. Weiner’s alleged contact with a minor even though that report was out well before these pieces were posted.
