The left claims women are paid less than men for the same work.  To support that claim, lefties point to Census Bureau data that says women get paid 77 cents for every dollar earned by men.  The editorial presents similar data for Florida/Nevada, Utah, Pennsylvania, Beaver County, and Allegheny County.  The problem is, this data completely ignores things like the actual job, hours worked, et cetera.  That is, the data is for men and women in aggregate and doesn’t compare men and women performing the same job under similar circumstances.  If businesses could get away with paying women 23% less than men to do the same job, why would a business hire men?

In any case, read FactCheck.org’s “Obama’s 77-Cent Exaggeration” and you will get closer to the truth.
