Michael Alberico – 9/5/06

Democrats are clueless; Michael Alberico; Beaver County Times; September 5, 2006.

Below is a detailed critique of the letter.

“The Times has been printing letters from Democrats who are clueless about their party.

“They spew pure hatred of all things Bush and Republican.  They attribute all things bad to them; perhaps this month’s rainfall deficit is also their fault.  Why even stop at that?”

[RWC] Though outnumbered by Democrats/liberals with this trait, Republicans have letter writers like Paul Dici, Paul Kahr, Dan Reeping, et cetera.

“In a disintegrating county forever run by Democrats, in a regressive state governed by a Democrat, it’s embarrassing to read letters from those who belong to a party that is not at all like the party which they joined many years ago.”

[RWC] Before throwing rocks at state-level Democrats, we need to consider the following.

Mr. Alberico ignores the fact that a Republican-majority General Assembly gave Gov. Rendell most of what he wanted.

Can Mr. Alberico describe what was different during the eight years when Republicans were in the majority in the GA and we had a Republican governor?  As I’ve documented before, state spending increased faster during this period than during the previous eight years when we had a Democrat governor and a Democrat-majority GA.

“It’s since become warped and mutated by extremists who blame every local, national and global ill on a single Republican man.

“If Democrats were brave enough to investigate their own party’s agenda first, they’d be stunned to learn that it no longer truly represents exactly what they think it does.  The party’s over; it left them.”

[RWC] While this statement is true for Democrats over a given age, it’s also true for many Republicans.

“Once again, I say: to those of you pure haters out there who are convinced that you know who’s solely to blame for all of your ills in life, look in the mirror.

“In the wake of your partisan ignorance and arrogance, you’ll leave a wrecked land behind for your children.  Care about that.”

[RWC] Mr. Alberico probably shouldn’t be throwing rocks either, or at least the rocks he threw above.
