Rich-poor divide continues to grow; Gwen Antoline; Beaver County Times; February 23, 2011.

Below is a detailed critique of the subject letter.

“In Sunday’s World section I read that the Republican-controlled House has now passed legislation to protect cuts from the oil refineries, mining and other business interests, yet they are cutting assistance to help fund education, nutrition, family planning and subsidies to the poor.”

[RWC] I missed the parts of the U.S. Constitution that authorize any of this spending by the feds.

“Education is our future in order that the United States remains the strongest country in the world, right?  I suppose our future is to become a Third World country controlled by the richly invested.”

[RWC] Again, what part of the U.S. Constitution authorizes education spending by the feds?

“The division in rich and poor will become very clear, but which income class will be the most populated if they’re not already on the fence either laughing or choking?

“And I don’t care which class of society you’re in, the gas pumps and air travel have and will continue to affect all, raising everyone’s cost of living right down to a loaf of bread, not to mention the cost of eradicating the Asian stink bugs and fish we are importing that will be choking our own crops and water-life.”

[RWC] Have you noted how lefties always try to divide us into groups, in this case classes?  The last I checked, the U.S. didn’t employ a caste system.

“Crime will have no choice but to be on the rise, and cuts in law enforcement and municipal assistance are also in the works on state levels.  The jokes [sic] on whom?”

[RWC] Every level of government should pay its own way.
