Below is a detailed critique of the subject letter.

“How long must one country suffer for the world to open its eyes?

“Robert Mugabe is a ‘president’ who rules his country with a presence that quells freedoms, destroys families, manipulates election results and has let one of Africa’s proudest nations slip into oblivion.

“Since 1980, Mugabe has led Zimbabwe (formerly Rhodesia) down a path of destruction. Initially, he was looked upon with admiration by fellow African leaders as a man who embodied the hope of African politics and the future for African nation-states.

“He obtained power by offering a way out from underneath the hand of white colonists. However, in a tragic twist of fate, Mugabe has become the savior-turned-oppressor himself: inflation rates are an astronomical 100,000 percent; basic necessities like food, oil, gasoline and bread are hard to come by; three million people have fled the country in 10 years and 80 percent of the nation is out of work.

“To sum it up, the nation of Zimbabwe is on the precipice. Will it become a failed state, and can it rebound?

“Mugabe has lost to the opposition party (Movement for Democratic Change). Instead of abdicating, he is clenching his fists ever tighter. He is fighting. He is intimidating. He is brutalizing. He is killing. How can this be tolerated?

“If the down-trodden of Zimbabwe don’t have a voice, then we as world will face the repercussions: more poverty, more violence, more death and more starvation. The cycle continues.

“So please, make a noise about this. Talk about it in your classrooms and on the streets. Educate your friends, but more importantly, educate yourselves.”

[RWC] Did you note what Mr. Ault failed to mention? Yep, the ideology of Mr. Mugabe and his political party is a combination of communism, Marxism, and socialism. Everything that’s happened since Mr. Mugabe took office is the same that’s happened in other countries that followed similar leftist ideology.
