Immigration plan is insane; Marie C. Barkovic; Beaver County Times; May 28, 2007.

Below is a detailed critique of the subject letter.

“Webster’s dictionary defines insanity as meaning unsoundness and derangement of the mind.

“To grant amnesty to 20 million illegal aliens who broke the law is insanity.

“Once amnesty is granted, more American workers will be displaced while real wages will decline.

“Big business will continue to pay slave wages, reap record profits while billing the American people for their employees’ health care (in billions), education (in billions) and anything else they and their family members are entitled to.

[RWC] The only point I want to address in this critique is Ms. Barkovic’s use of the term “big business.”  I lived in Texas (Houston area) for 18 years and I can tell you from experience that small businesses employ at least as many illegal aliens as so-called big businesses.  It was so bad that when I had my house’s roof replaced, I felt compelled to demand the roofing crew have at least one roofer who could speak English.  Sure enough, when I came home one day and found a problem with what the crew was doing, I had to call the roofer’s office because not one of the four-man crew could understand me.

“Clearly, our elected officials are more concerned with the demands of 20 million illegal aliens than the will of the American people.

“Insanity, total insanity.”
