Bush cares only about the war; Velma Berger; Beaver County Times; September 14, 2006.

This is the latest in a series of at least 14 Bush and Iraqi-bashing letters written by Ms. Berger dating back more than a year.  In one letter, Ms. Berger told us she was proud of John Murtha.

Below is a detailed critique of the letter.

“President Bush found time to visit New Orleans on the first anniversary of Hurricane Katrina.

“When the hurricane struck, it took him three days to fly over and view the destruction.  He was so out of touch with the situation that he was congratulating FEMA for a good job even as it turned its back on the people.”

[RWC] This is at least the third rant about Hurricane Katrina from Ms. Berger.  Two previous letters are here and here.

“Now, a year has passed and conditions there are still deplorable.  People are waiting on FEMA trailers.  Some people have been lost and will never be found.”

[RWC] “Some people have been lost and will never be found?”  What’s this supposed to mean?

“Looking at the pictures, it’s hard to believe this is happening in the United States.  Our government has let the people down.”

[RWC] Congress approved approximately $110 billion for the recovery effort and more than $44 billion has already been released to the state and local governments.

If nothing is happening, look at the local and state government.  Let’s also remember New Orleans voters reelected the mayor who bungled everything he touched regarding Katrina.  As noted in previous critiques, but not mentioned by Ms. Berger, Democrats have run Louisiana and New Orleans since forever.

“Bush has promised to rebuild one of the mosques in Iraq.  We go around the world helping others but cannot take care of our own people.  He used the anniversary of one of our worst disasters as a chance for some publicity pictures.  I believe he is a war president as he has stated and that the war is all he cares about.”

[RWC] Blah, blah, blah.  Based on her history of Bush bashing, I believe Ms. Berger suffers from Bush Derangement Syndrome (BDS).
